LAW "shield" for stray

The Ministry of Agriculture is examining closely the possibility of stricter penalties for cruelty to animals, compared with the existing legal framework, said in a letter sent to the House the competent Deputy Milena Apostolakis.

The Secretary Rural Development stresses that decisions and legislative initiatives will be undertaken in the immediate future, after dialogue with relevant bodies and animal welfare associations. On occasion, however, a question for Members of LAOS Athanasius Plevris and Adonis Georgiadis, the Secretary for Rural Development and Food notes that solving the problem of stray can only be met by criminal action, but a collective effort to raise awareness of society.
